We recently forged a partnership with the Denver Nut Company, a local snack supplier to many bars and breweries around the city of Denver. We happen to enjoy their nuts, and Ryan, Denver Nut Co’s owner loves to ask us how we like having his nuts in our mouths. For the record, we like it very much. Just as much as we like having an endless stream of nut jokes.

Interestingly, the local nut purveyor has a collaboration beer coming out with Chain Reaction Brewing. Since DNC is the closest thing we have to a sponsor, I’m going to share their press release for the event even though it’s not really our style. We will have a podcast with Ryan and his business partner Alex later this week that we recorded at Chain Reaction, and we will be at the event doing some podcasting, some trivia and generally fucking around like usual. We hope to see as many of you there as we can squeeze into the brewery.

“Denver, CO – Denver Nut Co. and Chain Reaction Brewing Company (Denver, Colo.) announced their first collaboration brew was in the making and is scheduled to be tapped February 26th. The two local companies have paired together to make a Butter Toffee Peanut Porter, the first of its kind to either companies’ knowledge.

“We are very excited to work with Chain Reaction for our first collaboration brew,” said Ryan John, owner and founder of Denver Nut Co. “It’s a great group of guys that make a variety of different beers and no idea is off the table with them.”

The two companies came up with the idea whilst pairing nuts with a variety of beers at Chain Reaction’s 902 S. Lipan Street tasting room. Wanting something dark and heavy to get through the last of winter, they discovered that the Butter Toffee Peanuts and Chain Reaction’s Porter, their winter dark flagship, perfectly complemented each other. The result will be a big and bad beer that accentuates the gentle, rich tones of caramel and toffee already known in their Porter and add a roasted nut flavor to an already flavorful beer packed full of dark roasted malts with robust notes of coffee and chocolate. “On Seinfeld they were always saying ‘These pretzels are making me thirsty,’” said Zach Christofferson, co-owner of Chain Reaction. “But what really goes well with good, local beer are good, local nuts.”

The two companies have a few ideas for some other brews, but they are keeping those under wraps for now. “Zach has a few ideas up his sleeve for both a Spring and Summer collaboration brew,” said John. “I can hardly wait to taste this one, let alone the future brews that sound just as amazing.”

About Chain Reaction Brewing – www.chainreactionbrewingco.com – @chainreacbrew
After years of home brewing, cousins Zack and Chad Christofferson came together with the idea of wanting to have a “nanobrewery” of the 1 barrel scale. While this size of system in one way meant more work would be required to keep up with demand it also meant that they would have a great deal of freedom to do small batches and try out many different style and ideas of beer.”

And a little bit of fun since we’re on the topic of nuts.
